Apocalypse Now (United Artists, 1979). Very Fine on Linen. Japanese B0 (40.5″ X 58″). Eiko Ishioka Design & Haruo Takino Artwork.
Francis Ford Coppola’s poignant anti-war masterpiece overcame several shooting issues brought on by wild weather, crazy parties, drugs, heart attacks, and breakdowns, to become one of the most innovative and surreal war films of all time. Designed by Eiko Ishioka with artwork by Harou Takino, this incredibly scarce Japanese “Surf’s Up” poster features a highly detailed image of Huey helicopters within inches of crashing waves. With no restoration applied, this poster shows only a few light creases and a sliver of paper loss in the upper right edge. The linen is trimmed nearly to the edge in some places and to the edge in others.
