Michaelangelo Antonioni’s existentialist thriller about a fashion photographer who inadvertently discovers a murder was hugely influential in its plot and construction, directly inspiring films like The Conversation and Blow Out. It also serves as an enduring portrait of the culture it critiques, mod London during the swinging sixties, and features a partial performance by the Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck-era Yardbirds. The poster is emblematic of midcentury cool, both eye-catching and stark, featuring David Hemmings straddling Veruschka von Lehndorff from the film’s opening photoshoot sequence. Folded as issued, the poster was printed in two sections designed to overlap. The lower section exhibits some fold toning, and both have some small splits and wear along the folds, typical of Italian posters of the era, with wear and creasing to the extreme edges.
