With James Bond proving a smash at the box office, it wasn’t long before the Carry On team cashed in on the spy craze by spoofing the exotic world of international espionage. “Carry On Spying” (1964), sees Kenneth Williams as spymaster Simkins, who with three trainee agents – Bernard Cribbins, Charles Hawtrey and, in her first “Carry On” role, Barbara Windsor – sent to Vienna to try and retrieve a top secret formula that has been stolen by criminal organization S.T.E.N.C.H. This is a fantastic British country of origin One-Sheet with artwork by Tom Chantrell which displays beautifully and benefits from being conservation linen backed with the foldlines touched in to be nearly unnoticeable. NOTE: The bent/straight gun barrel has always been area of discussion due to legal complications with the James Bond Producers who felt a straight barrel poked too much fun at their trademark “Bond with gun” design. So an agreement was reached changing the bent barrel for a straight one. However this was only carried out on the UK quad and not the One-Sheet as featured here. In 2018, Prop Store sold Chantrell’s original artwork for this and there is very little between that and the finished poster.

Conservation linen-backed with light restoration. Fold lines have been touched in and flattened out and are almost undetectable. Overall this displays very well with strong bold colours.
