Gilda – French Grande
£6,995.00
Gilda (Columbia, 1946). Fine- on Linen. French Grande (44″ X 62″) Boris Grinsson Artwork.
This is an original release French grande for one of Hollywood’s finest film noirs, Gilda. A sultry and suspenseful tale set in postwar Buenos Aires, the 1946 film stars Rita Hayworth in her most iconic role as a mesmerizing femme fatale caught in a volatile love triangle with Glenn Ford and George Macready. There are 2 versions of Grinsson’s work for this film though both posters feature impeccable artwork by Boris Grinsson, the other piece showcases his take on the famous one sheet of Hayworth alluringly smoking a cigarette against a dark background, while this newly presented example dramatically features her looming figure above a poignant image of her pleading at the feet of Ford’s character. Moderately visible touchup, airbrushing, and replacement has addressed edge and fold wear, creases, fold/crossfold separation, tears, chips, misfolds, staining, and a missing corner. Many of these flaws have been expertly restored and now presents beautifully.
