Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros Seattle and Portland Concert Poster (1999). After a lengthy time away from touring and recording, ex-Clash co-frontman Joe Strummer returned in the late 1990s with an excellent new band called the Mescaleros. For this poster, designer Mike King admitted in the book Maximum Plunder that the wording on this as “perhaps one of the dumbest things I have ever been asked to put on a poster.” He added: “Describing Joe Strummer as ‘Ex-Clash guitarist’ is like calling Arthur Miller ‘Ex-Marilyn Monroe husband.'”
This poster is for the Seattle show at the Moore Theater and for the Portland show at the Roseland Theater. Offset printed. Measures 11″ x 17″. In Near Mint condition.
