TWA SAN FRANCISCO 25×40 travel poster 1967 fantastic art of cable car & city by David Klein!
£795.00
TWA: San Francisco, the 1960s airline aviation airplane travel poster encouraging travel to San Francisco aboard Trans World Airlines (TWA), and featuring David Klein art of a cable car with other landmarks in the background.
Artist: David Klein
Note that the “Up Up and Away TWA” tagline was first used in 1967 and lasted about a year. “Up, Up and Away” was pop song most famously sung by the Fifth Dimension, and an advertising agency came up with the idea of using it to promote TWA. It was a hit but there was a lawsuit over the use of the song, and when that was settled, TWA had switched advertising agencies.
Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has some light creases scattered in various areas and there is some light rippling and slight discoloration in the lower left corner (mainly affecting the blank area but some of the art is affected as well – see our image). It is not very noticeable or distracting when the poster is displayed and after a pretty simple linenbacking the poster would look great!
