A Fistful of Dollars (United Artists, 1964). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Italian 4 – Fogli (54.75″ X 77.5″) Sandro Simeoni Artwork.
If you’re baffled by the director credits on this Spaghetti Western poster, you’re not alone. Italian distributors didn’t think audiences would “buy” a Western made by Italian Sergio Leone, so they decided his name should be “Bob Robertson” for the promotional material. It didn’t matter. Once audiences saw Clint Eastwood on screen they demanded more of the “Man With No Name” and a legend was born. With its bright, action-capturing color and artwork by Sandro Simeoni, the country-of-origin Italian 4-fogli is always in high demand with collectors. Restoration has been applied to fold wear and separations, pinholes, small chips, and minor tears. The white background and borders, as well as Clint Eastwood’s credit have been touched up. Some of the restoration has begun to crack and separate the poster from the masa paper, however it displays well with its dynamic illustration.
