Godzilla (Eros, 1956). Fine on Linen. British Quad (30″ X 39.75″).
Director Ishiro Honda and special effects genius Eiji Tsuburaya brought to life one of the most terrifying monsters to ever grace the silver screen with Gojira, better known as Godzilla in the West, a creature inspired by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as the detonation of the first hydrogen bomb over Bikini Atoll. This gargantuan reptile symbolizes the destruction wrought by nuclear weapons and spawned one of the largest and longest-running film franchises of all time. After the film was reworked for Western audiences to include scenes with Raymond Burr, this King of the Kaijus became an international sensation and an icon of the monster genre. Heritage is pleased to present this action-packed British quad from Honda’s masterpiece which captures the essence of the creature that rose from the waters of Tokyo Bay to wreak terror and destruction upon a helpless mankind. Slightly noticeable touchup has addressed a few flaws throughout including edge and fold wear, pinholes, creases, slight chipping, and a few tears and stains. Additionally, the linen has been trimmed to the borders. Some flaws remain slightly visible.
