Bastard – Argentinian

£295.00

I Bastardi (released in English speaking countries in 1969 as “The Bastard”), the 1968 Duccio Tessari Italian family relationship revenge crime thriller (“Men… and women… will do strange thins for one million dollars”; “Sons of Satan …and their mother, the Queen of Crime.”; about two gangster brothers, and one betrays the other, and has him beaten and steals his girlfriend, and he spends the rest of the movie getting revenge) starring Rita Hayworth, Giuliano Gemma, Klaus Kinski, Margaret Lee, and Claudine Auger. Note that Rita Hayworth plays the mother of the two brothers that the movie is really about, but she got top billing, surely solely on the basis of her star power and that it would increase the box office of the movie. But when this movie was made, she was already showing signs of the Alzheimer’s disease that would end her career, and she had great difficulty with her lines. The entire movie is pretty much a mess, and it apparently is all in English, even though it is Italian. It apparently never had a U.S. release, although international one-sheets were printed with the U.S. title, likely for other English speaking countries.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
